Volunteering at Boaz

Created by Neil 2 years ago

Over the past two years while Boaz grappled with the challenges of Covid, Len and I took on a series of projects to upgrade and develop the infrastructure at Boaz. We both thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple of days each week together at Boaz or at the barn where Len had his workshop. We worked well together and enjoyed teasing each other about our different approaches to jobs. Len was ever the perfectionist and had the T Shirt for never finishing anything. I am much more in the 'fit for purpose' camp so we became an effective team that got the jobs done to a reasonable standard. This brought immense satisfaction to us both and we had a lot of fun at the same time.

We were working to together erecting fruit cages on the Tuesday before he died and I left for South Africa the following Sunday. It seems impossible that he died a day later and I will miss him dreadfully when we return in June. Life at Boaz will not be the same without him.
